“Developing the Leader within you” by John c. Maxwell
This book elucidate the importance of a good leader. This Maxwell explains a leader as being a person that influence. He also defined Leadership as an act or instance of leading; a guiding or directing head, as of an army, movement, or political group. There are three important levels of leadership: permission and production. According to the Aurthur Maxwell, permission is simply the idea that people follow because they want to. It poses a genuine love for people, it helps you see through other people eyes, includes others in your journey, and make those who work with you more successful. Production is just the idea that people follow because of what one has done for an organization.Production also develops accountability for results, beginning with you, communicating the strategies and vision of the organization, initiate and accept responsibility for growth, and make the difficult decisions that will make a difference. Finally the author also elucidates that a leader should also exemplify a positive attitude. Leader learn from their parents, family and peers. Maxwell then points out that being a leader just don't mean you know everything but, it enables you to help other people learn from your previous mistakes and make the best out of it.In the conclusion of the book leaders where simplified as people that had the ability to influence. This book actually helped me a lot and especially this year. Being drum-major for two years, brought out the leadership qualities in me . I think that if you are a team captain or if you have strong leadership skills and qualities that enable people to learn from you then this book would be an great book for you to read! Not only this book explain leadership qualities but, also explains how you poses you skills in the right way with out behind arrogant.
