Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment
Max Ride and her friends have never lived a normal life. When they were infants they were kidnapped and taken to a place called the School where scientists combined their DNA with that of birds. As a result, the kids have wings and can fly. At the school they met a man named Jeb Batchelder who took them away from the dog cages they lived in to a house in the mountains of Colorado. They thought they had escaped the School forever, but after four years of living peacefully in the mountains, something was bound to go wrong. And it did.
The School kidnaps the youngest member of the flock, and Max, Fang, Iggy, The Gasman, and Nudge are forced to follow them. This leads them on a journey to save their sister, Angel, find their parents, and discover why the scientists at the school made them. All the while they are being chased by bloodthirsty Erasers, human-wolf hybrids, who are out to kill the flock. Will they succeed in their mission? Or will they be captured and killed?
This book is full of excitement, adventure, and humor. It starts of fast and continues to quicken its pace until the very end. There were many times when I couldn’t sit still because the suspense was just too much. Max is the typical teenage girl, except for the fact that she has wings, and her witty narration keeps you laughing, even through the serious parts of the story. It raises questions about the morality of genetic experimentation and still manages to address the problems that every teenage girl deals with. It was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone.
