Drama High: Second Chance

Drama High: Second Chance
By: L. Divine

Attending high school for four years I realized that it can be challenging not only because of academics, but also because of your peers. Jayd Jackson was your average day high school student, she lived in Compton, but attended school at South Bay High also known as "Drama High". Jayd had two best friends Nellie and Mickey. Jayd loved her girl's so much that she could not go a day without talking to them. Jayd had a ex-boyfriend named KJ. He cheated on her and almost casued a fight between her and another girl named Tracee, but everything began to change when Jeremy Weiner came into the picture.
Jeremy Weiner was also a junior at South Bay High School. He was a half Jewish white male that lived in Palos Verdes. Everything was going great. Jeremy was treating her like a princess, but it was one problem, the whole school includng Jayd's worst nightmare Misty had something to say about their relatioship. She grew confused because she did not know what to do about KJ; he kept calling, popping up at her job, and house. She thought it had finally come to an end when KJ picked a fight with Jeremy in the mall and lost. Even after all that drama, Jeremy was still crazy about Jayd and wanted her to officially be his girlfriend. She was still unsure because she did not want KJ back, but she knew he still had her heart. Still not knowing what to do, she asked her mother for advice, her mother told her to follow her heart and if KJ's not where it is, then it might be time for a change.
Drama High is a great book for all high school students to read. Not only will you realize that you are not the only person going through high school drama, but it is okay to make yourself happy instead of making everyone else happy first. This book also can help teenage girls that are in or are interested in being involved in a interracial relationship. Jayd's courage shows that even though everyone is against her including her best friends she will not let anyone make one of the biggest decisions she has ever faced.
