APF by Zane is a rather interesting novel. It is a funny thing because this book shows how easy it is to slip into the wrong and/or different lifestyle while attending college away from home. The main character Mary Ann is a smart girl from a small country town. Her graduating class in high school wasn't very large and she attended a local college for her undergrad years. She has dreams of becoming a lawyer and the ability to do it as well. She comes from a fairly large family and money for a major university is almost impossible to come up with so when a scholarship is available there is no way she can turn it down. The only thing she is hesitant about is the fact that she will have to leave everything she has known for the duration of her life.
When she arrives to Washington D.C. she is actually embarrassed about being there on a scholarship but she meets the RA she is relieved to find out that half the people in the university is there on some kind of scholarship. She also finds out that the RA(Patricia) is apart of a secret sorority and has been living an alternative lifestyle for quite some time now. Mary Ann would now like to join in on the fun. Before she can join the sorority she must first prove that she can handle the way of living that the sorority will require.
The meaning of this story can be taken in many ways. The way that I took it was it is okay to be different. Though many people or some people may not approve of it. you should always be yourself and you will find out that you will be much happier when you stop worrying about what other people think about you. I give this book 3 stomps
