The Book "The Bomb" is about a teenage boy who lives an Bikini Island. The Island that he lives on is controlled by the Japanese in the beginning. The book takes place during and after World War II, but only very little fighting takes place on the Island. In the beginning, they all live on an Island, Sorry, who is the teenage boy, and all of his family and friends. The Island is controlled by the Japs untill one day the United States navy comes and takes over the Island, killing the Japs, and making it American territory. When Sorry's uncle returns, he is able to speak english and can understand the radio that the navy left, and hears of a very dangerous weapon that the Americans have used on the Japs to end the war. The weapon is the Atomic Bomb.
After the war had been over for sometime, lots of Americans start coming to the Island. Sorry's uncle gets supicious, and come ti find out, his suspicions were right. The Americans announce that they will be using the Island as a nuclear test site, but promise that they can return when they are finished and will help them find and move to another island. Sorry and his uncle try to fight back, but it is no use, it seems as though they were doomed.
I think that the book was written to try to tell people the dangers of evil things, like the atomic bomb. To this day people still cannot return to the island because of the radiation. But maybe if everyone reads this book, and sees how this bomb really affected the poeple and what kind of distruction that it can cause, then maybe nothing like it will ever happen again.
