For One More Day by: Mitch Albom

For One More Day
By: Mitch Albom

As a young boy, Charley Benetto had to make a decision of being a mama's boy or daddy's boy. This situation caused him to be very confused in his early years. Growing up, Charley lived a troubled life. The father that he idolized left his family when he was only eleven years old. Living without his father for many years, Charley's heart remained broken through his adult life. His life was broken due to alcohol abuse and constant disappointments. Charley lost his job and his family. Becoming so distraught when his own daughter disowns him, he tries to take his own life.
When his suicide attempt failed he returned to the home he grew up in, not realizing there would be someone waiting on him. Upon his arrival, he found someone that was very dear to him, but died eight years earlier. Shocked by the visitor, Charley did not know how to respond. By talking and getting better acquainted with this person he learned how to forgive and put the pieces in his life back together.
For One More Day is the type of book that helps you realize that family is important. It teaches you to cherish the days with your love ones because tomorrow is not promised. Unlike some people, Charley was given a second chance to build a better relationship with his wife and children. Charley also learned that there is no love greater than the love of your mother. No matter what the situation was she helped him over come his battles and took up for him when his back was against the wall. After reading this book you will appreciate the people that have sacrificed their lives to better yours.
