Phoenix Perry is a martial artist trainer and FBI Agent. She has been on desk duty with the FBI since she found at that she was pregnant with her son Sydney. She gets back on the streets when she learns that her cousin, Michelle, has been beaten to almost death. There are also two other bodies found at the crime scene. Michelle is the prime suspect. Perry wonders why Michelle would want to kill someone. The family says that Michelle has been acting strange every since her husband “supposibly” committed suicide. While Perry’s cousin is in the hospital with a coma, she doses everything she can to prove her cousin’s innocents. She gets a lawyer and she and her partner, Kelley McPherson start working on the case trying to find the real killers and get to the bottom of things. Michelle dies in the hospital before Perry can solve the case. Perry continues working on the case anyway because she has to find her cousin’s attackers and to find out who was all involved in the murders. Throughout the case several other murders are committed. A nationwide chase evolves, involving shady editors and publishers, crooked agents and angry book authors. Will the case be solved or will the suspects get away free.
I think that this was a really great book. The first part of the story drags a little but it gets better as it goes on. This book is full of suspense. I would recommend this book to high school student and above. This would also be a good book for anyone who likes to watch CSI. Some of these characters truly have a lot of hatred in their. I could not do what they did because I would have that on my conscience for the rest of my life.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stomps
